Obituary of Patrick J. Regan


Leominster, came to this country as a professional boxer; 79 LEOMINSTER -- Patrick J. Regan, 79, died Sunday June 6 after a illness.He was born on March 7, 1931 in Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo, Ireland the son of the late James and Mary (Deasy) Regan.He came to this country in 1949 as a professional boxer. He worked for many years as a painter with his brother Shaun. He was a US ARMY veteran of the Korean Conflict serving from 1950 - 1953. He received the Combat Infantry Badge, The Purple Heart, and The Korean campaign National Defense Medal.Patrick is survived by his wife of 49 years Catherine (Rourke) Regan, his children Erin Slattery and her husband Ted of Fitchburg, Shaun and Brendan of Leominster, Patrick of Nebraska, and Colleen of Lowell, his grandchildren Meghan, Connor, Shannon, Christopher, and Amy, his brother Mike of North Carolina, and sister Winifred of England, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers Tim, Shaun, and James, and two sons Patrick James, and George Patrick.He was a avid Boston Redsox Fan, and a Boston Bruins Fan. His most cherished time was spent with grandchildren Meghan, Connor, and Shannon.REGAN -- The Funeral will be held on Friday June 11 from THE CURLEY MARCHAND FUNERAL HOME, 89 West St. Leominster, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in St. Leo's Church, 108 Main St. Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Leo's Cemetery, Leominster. Calling Hours at the Funeral Home will be on Thursday from 5-8 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to: Fr. Edward Randall OMI Scholarship Fund c/o Lowell Catholic High School, 530 Stevens St. Lowell, MA 01851 and may be left at the Funeral Home.
