LOWE , Mary Elizabeth (nee Dawson) May 5, 1932 - August 1, 2009 Mary Elizabeth (nee Dawson) Lowe, beloved wife of Bill and long-time resident of Calgary, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at the age of 77 years. She was born May 5, 1932 in Regina, Saskatchewan, daughter of Walter and Beatrice Dawson (nee Smith). Mary is survived by her loving husband of fifty-eight years, William Douglas Lowe; sisters, Merle, Loretta and Joan; daughters, Linda Fowler (Duane) and Sharon "Myoshin" Kelley (Edwin); son William "Bill" Lowe (Cheryle); grandchildren, Aaron Lowe, Devin Fowler, Jesse Fowler, Matthew Lowe, Andrew Lowe, Bradley Lowe, Darrin Lowe, Joel Lowe, Jordan Lowe, and Cody Lowe; and great-grandchildren, Ryley Lowe and Brooke Lowe. First and foremost Mary was a Wife, a Mother, a Grandmother and a Friend to all that knew her. Mary graduated from Scott Collegiate Regina in 1950. She moved to Calgary with her husband and children in 1961. Mary was a founding member of Southwood United Church in 1961 and worked extensively on the fund-raising committee with the dream of having a permanent home for the congregation. She offered her service to the Church as a volunteer accountant from 1971 until 1991. Mary was also active in the Southwood Community Association and hosted in her family room the inaugural community association meeting. She helped form the Southwood Brownie's and was a Brownie Leader from 1961 to 1965. Mary began her accounting career in 1964 as the bookkeeper for Tom's House of Pizza. In 1981 Mary graduated from the CGA certification program and began her own private accounting firm. Mary was also a partner in the family business, W.D. Lowe Sales Co. Ltd. and a long-time member of the MCA of Alberta. Mary and her husband Bill traveled extensively with their friends from the MCA exploring unique and exciting places around the world. She was an avid curler and bridge player. Mary passed away peacefully surrounded by her family while watching her beloved "Regina Roughriders" beat the Calgary Stampeders. Mary will be dearly missed by her life-long friend and husband Bill as well as all that had the privilege of meeting this dynamic soul. Funeral Services will be held at Southwood United Church (10690 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com .
