Obituary of Mary E. Regan


Mary E. (Muolo) Regan has gone home to be with the Lord on Saturday July 3, 2010 after spending her final weeks surrounded by her loving, caring family at her daughters home in West Newfield, Maine. She was born Oct 9, 1914, in New Haven, CT., the daughter of the late Grazio and Anna (Gencola) Regan. She was the wife of the late John F. Regan who died in January of 1975. She is survived by her devoted children Son Tom and Ann Regan of Newton Center; Daughter Barbara Doody of Goffstown, NH; Son John and Lois Regan of Natick; Daughter Catherine Regan Washek of Ashland; Son Bob Regan of Ashland; Daughter Mary and Chuck Rich of Waterboro, ME; Son Edward Regan of Charlemont; Son Phil Regan of Cochituate; Son Joe and Sue Regan of Whitinsville; Daughter Leona and Art Dolan of Cape Neddick, ME; Daughter Patricia and Ed Mitchell of East Orleans; Daughter Sheila and Red Chalmers of West Newfield, ME; Daughter Pamela and Tim McCann of Cochituate; Daughter Rebecca and Larry Ross of Canaan, ME; Daughter Anna and Gene Dawkins of Sanford, ME and Daughter Gloria and Gary Mazo of Marstons Mills. She is also survived by her brother Peter B. Muolo of New Haven, CT and sister-in-law Mary Muolo of Cambridge, MA. She was the treasured Gram of 47 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Grazio (Rocky), Louis, Francis (Riley), Dominic (Uchie) and Philip B. Muolo. Mary spent her childhood in East Cambridge, working her first job at Squires Meat Packing. She lived in Cochituate from 1943 until 1985 raising her 16 children. She worked as a crossing guard in Wayland and police matron for the surrounding communities. She was a daily communicant at St. Zepherin parish and member of the St. Zepherin Womens Club. She was an enthusiastic bowler and avid craft worker, including knitting, crocheting, quilting and painting, often giving her work to various charities. She often sewed her own outfits and clothing for her children. In 1985 she moved to Alfred, ME. She was a daily communicant at Holy Family Church of St. Theresa of Lisieux Parish of Sanford ME, a devoted Eucharist Minister including visiting shut-ins and local nursing homes and was involved in the Charismatic Prayer Communities. She supported the Penny Ministry for Waban Projects, which provides housing and programs for adults with special needs, and the Kairos Ministry, an outreach program for prisoners. She often was knitting and sewing for various charities including knitting hats for newborn babies at Goodall Hospital and this past winter was sewing quilts for Haitian orphans. She could never drive by a yard sale without stopping. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the U.S. including Alaska and Hawaii, as well as sojourns to Italy & Israel. At the age of 78, she earned her GED. Although she lived a full and busy life, her prime passion was her family. Visitations will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 from 3:00 to 8:00 pm in the Bryant Memorial Chapel of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30) Cochituate. Family and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 10:00 am at St, Zepherin Church, 99 Main St (Rte 27), Cochituate. Interment will follow in the Regan family lot in St, Zepherin Cemetery, Bent Ave, Cochituate.
