Obituary of Mae-Janet Macdonell


MacDONELL, Sister Mae Janet, O.L.M. Peacefully on June 18, 2004. A member of Our Lady's Missionaires since 1958 and served in Brazil for 36 years and 2 years in East Timor. After returning to Canada in 2002, she served briefly with the Canadian Peacemakers. Predeceased by her parents Maryann and Angus MacDonell and brothers Wallace and John. Survived by her brother Allan and sisters Christina MacPhail (Allan) and Heather Leger (Rosiare) and her aunt Marjorie MacGillis. Will be sadly missed by her family, friends and the Sisters of Our Lady's Missionaires and many people in North East Brazil. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 20, 2004 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Our Lady's Missionaries Central House, 2 Leander Court (416-752-0263). A brief prayer service will be held on Monday, June 21, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady's Missionaries Central House, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Scarboro Missions Chapel, 2685 Kingston Rd. A light lunch will be served following the Mass, and then interment will take place at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Brazil Mission would be appreciated.
