Obituary of Mary Keating


Mary Fran (McDonald) Keating, 88, passed away Friday, Jan. 7 at her home after a brief illness. Fran was born and educated in So. Boston and had been a Weymouth resident since 1957. Fran was a legal secretary for the U.S. Government Defense Dept. for ten years and worked at the 1st United Nations Conference. She then worked for the U.S. Navy for several years and then worked for Judge Joseph Feeney for 13years and finally the IRS for seven years before retiring in 1984. Fran was a volunteer at South Shore Hospital and very active with the Weymouth Senior Citizens. She loved to play golf, swim, dance and especially loved spending time with her family. Fran was the beloved wife of the late John (Jack) V. Keating. She was the devoted mother of Maureen F. MacDonald and her husband Craig, Janet K. Santoro and her husband Stephen, John (Jack) V. Keating Jr. and his wife Victoria, all of Hanover. Loving sister of Doris C. MacDonald of So. Boston. She is also survived by her six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral from the McDonald Funeral Home, East Weymouth, 3 Charles St., (corner of Middle and Charles Sts.), on Tuesday, Jan. 11 at 8:30 a.m. Funeral Mass to follow in Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth Landing at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Monday from 4-7 p.m. Interment in the MA National Cemetery, Bourne.
