Lorne Robert Weir May 30, 1938 - September 27, 2005 Lorne Robert Weir passed away peacefully at the Riverview Health Center on September 27, 2005, after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his wife Geri, his parents; and his brother Ronald. Lorne is survived by his daughter Tobi and son Bob (wife Shannon); his first wife Jean (Kerdil) Weir, their daughters Kelly (partner Bruno Bernardin), JoAnn (partner Dave Juby), son Garry, grandsons Peter and Justin Weir, Jaime Bernardin and brother Norman. He was born on May 30, 1938 in Moncton, New Brunswick to George and Mamie (Bishop) Weir. Lorne grew up in Moncton. At the age of 16, he enlisted in the Canadian Army as a signaler in the Royal Canadian Signal Corps. After leaving the military in 1966, Lorne moved to Winnipeg. He worked for the City of Winnipeg and the town of Selkirk for a number of years before being hired on at the X-Kalay Foundation, now known as the Behavioural Health Foundation. Lorne quickly moved up to the position of Executive Director, being instrumental in many innovative techniques for the treatment of addictions and substance abuse. He retired from the Behavioural Health Foundation in March of this year, after 33 years of dedicated service. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and co-workers. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at the Riverview Health Centre, 3E, for the exceptional care given during Dad’s stay. A private family service has been held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
