Obituary of John-D. Devereau


John D. Devereau -- Dec. 18, 1918 — May 24, 2005 -- John D. Devereau, 86, of Ripon died Tuesday at his home.Mr. Devereau was a native of Canton, Ohio, and lived in San Joaquin County 45 years. He was an accounting clerk for more than 25 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving with the 101st and 82nd Airborne divisions; he was a master paratrooper with 357 jumps.He is survived by his children, Sandra Devereau, Elizabeth Ogle and Evelyn Weigman, all of Ripon, Harold Bever, Barbara Duran and Dollie Parra, all of Manteca, Gayle D. Ortiz of Lathrop, Deborah Castillo of Tracy, Merel Dillard of Lone Pine, Carol Whiteley of San Diego, John D. Devereau Jr. of Vashon, Wash., and Susie Parrie of Benton, La.; and 34 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Plunnie M. Devereau; daughter, Joanie Saldana; and a brother.Visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at Tabernacle of Praise, Manteca, with a funeral to follow. Park View Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
