Obituary of John William Welch

John William WELCH January 12, 1955-April 5,2016 It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of John Welch. Born in Halifax, NS., John lived in Toronto and Omaha, NE as a child, held a BA from UNB, and resided in North Van for the past 38 years. An accomplished musician, avid hockey player and fan, John loved to vacation in the Maritimes with friends. He was well known in the insurance world where he worked for most of his adult life, retiring as the Risk Manager for UBC, 3 years ago. John is preceded by loving parents William Welch and Dr. Louise Welch (nee Thompson). He is survived by his brother, Robert Welch (Fiona), nieces Jillian, Heather, nephew Cameron, 2 aunts and 10 cousins. A celebration of John's life will be held Friday May 20th, 1:00 p.m. at Jaycee House, 1251 Lillooet Road, North Van. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Red Cross. Sincere thanks to members of BC Ambulance, North Van. RCMP, Fire Dept. and John's neighbours for their courageous efforts and support.
