Obituary of John-Peter Welsh

WELSH, J. Peter July 4, 1934 - August 16, 2008 John "Peter" Welsh, beloved husband of Shirley Doreen (nee Fletcher), passed away at his home on August 16, 2008 at the age of 74 years. Born in Mexborough, England, he came to Canada at the age of fourteen with his parents Bernard and Gwendoline Welsh and younger brother Barry. Peter will be sadly missed, loved and remembered by his wife of fifty-one years, Shirley; daughters, Tracy Welsh and Kelly (David) Tomalty and grandchildren Jesse and Carson Tomalty. Peter enjoyed volunteering in his community as a soccer coach and led his junior girls team to the Canadian Championships in Quebec. Peter was employed by the Canada Packers Co. for some forty years in the Management and Engineering departments. Through the years, he enjoyed hunting, golfing, badminton and curling at the Calgary Winter Club. He was an avid gardener who loved a manicured lawn and beautiful flowers; he proudly maintained the flowerbeds in the park next to his home. Peter was predeceased by his mother and father and younger brother, Barry. A Memorial Service will be held at SNODGRASS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 200 Woodgate Road, Okotoks, on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Linda Ormson, Chaplain, officiating.
