MARKS, John Augustus Second Oldest Retired Ottawa Fire Fighter, WWII Veteran, passed peacefully while holding his daughter''s hand with the sunset filtering through his bedroom window at the Ottawa General Hospital on Monday October 10, 2016 at the age of 94. Beloved husband to the late Carmel Couture for almost 60 years. Loving and proud father of Lynne (David Fox). Cherished grand-papa of Daniel (Samantha) and great- grand-papa to Ryan. Dear brother of the late Leona, the late Brian, and the late Carroll. Uncle John will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews. Retiring as Captain, he will be fondly remembered by his friends at the Ottawa Fire Department and the Frontline Credit Union. The family wishes to extend heartfelt appreciation to the nursing staff and the doctors of 8 West at the Ottawa General Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion. Family and friends are invited to visit at Saint Patrick Basilica, 220 Kent Street, Ottawa, Monday October 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m, interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery on Montreal Road.
