Obituary of John-Ferguson Welch

WELCH, John Ferguson Peacefully with his loving family by his side on July 2, 2004 at 87 years of age. Beloved husband of Maureen Welch (nee Coughlin). Loving father of Grace and husband Howard Ratcliffe of Ottawa and Wendy Hickey of Windsor. Cherished grandfather of Jessica and husband D.J. Owchar, Kim Hickey, John and Katie Ratcliffe and great-grandpa of Adria Jayne. Dear brother of the late Janet Johnson and Grace Jones. Dear brother-in-law of Dave and Jean Ferguson, Tom and Barbara Coughlin, Rosemary Coughlin and Craig Johnson. He will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews. John retired in 1977 from the Windsor Police Services after 31 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Essex-Kent Scottish Regiment. In kindness memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association. Visiting on Sunday from 2:30-5:00 pm and 7-9 pm. Prayers will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 pm. Windsor Veterans Service at 8 pm at Families First Funeral Home (969-5841) 2670 Dougall Avenue. On Monday family and friends will meet at St. John Vianney Church (385 Dieppe Street) after 9:30am followed by Mass at 10:30 am. Internment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery
