Obituary of Joanne S. Vaughan Webster


Joanne S. Vaughan-Webster, 66, of Boston died on Wednesday, April 2, 2013 at the Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence. She was the wife of Henry A. Webster who died in 1998. Born in Boston on January 8, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Jesse H. and Ethel M. (McDaniel) Vaughan. Mrs. Vaughan-Webster was a resident of Boston for most of her life. She grew up in Medway, graduated from Medway High School and attended the former Kelly Business of Boston. She had worked for the Boston Public Schools for almost 40 years. Mrs. Vaughan-Webster was an active member of the Historic Charles Street A.M.E. Church in Roxbury and was a member of the Sarah Gorham Missionary. She is survived by her son Todd R. Vaughan Sr. and his wife Charline of Providence, RI and three daughters, Leigh F. Vaughan-James and her husband Greg of Roslindale, Robyn M. Vaughan-Berenguer and her husband Paul of North Carolina and Dawn M. Vaughan-Lynsky of Norton. She is also survived by two brothers, Herbert A. Vaughan of Norfolk and Rev. Stephen R. Vaughan and his wife Adrienne of Middleton, CT, six grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was the sister of the late Carol E. Vaughan. Relatives and friends were invited to attend her funeral service at the Historic Charles Street A.M.E. Church, 551 Warren St. in Roxbury on Wednesday, April 10 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Hyde Park. Calling hours were held on Tuesday from 6 | 8 p.m. and on Wednesday morning from 10 | 11 a.m. in the church. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St., Medway (wwwginleyfuneralhomes.com).
