Obituary of James Aitken


AITKEN, JamesIt is with heavy hearts and sadness that we announce the death of James Aitken, who passed on February 26, 2016 in Sherwood Park, Alberta. James was born in Glasgow, Scotland on March 30, 1947. James made Sherwood Park his home for most of his life, but also spent 10 years in Trinidad and Tobago. His profession in the oil and gas industry took him to numerous countries around the world where his infectious smile, sharp wit and zest for life made him an instant family member in anyone''s home. James is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lorna; his son, Johnathan (Marie), daughter Lindzie (Brad); three grandchildren, Nia, Jett and Parker; nieces Louise (Hamish), Natalie (Carl); brother-in- law Robert (Margaret) MacLelland, sister-in- law Christeen (Thomas) Gleghorn and family; several nieces and nephews from the MacLelland family, Hamilton family, Hughes family who James held close to his heart; and extended family and friends in Scotland. James was predeceased by his parents James and Helen, sister Roberta, and brother John. Throughout his life, James attracted lifelong friendships that meant the world to him.The celebration of James'' life will be held at Glenwood Funeral Home, South of Wye Road on Range Road 232, Sherwood Park, Alberta with the viewing from 1:00 – 1:45 p.m. and the service starting at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2016.
