James F. ORegan, 89, of Westborough, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 20, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of 60 years to Mary P. (Rogashio) ORegan. He is also survived by four children, Michael J. ORegan and his wife, Deborah, of Westborough, Mary Jean ORegan of Portland, Maine, Diane ORegan and her husband, Glen Orsi, of Auburn, and Brian T. ORegan of Northborough. He leaves six grandchildren, Shawn ORegan and his wife, Corinne, of Grafton, Katelin, Courtney and Timothy ORegan, all of Westborough, Jared Libby and his wife, Catherine, of Hawaii, and Liam Broderick of Portland, Maine; two great-granddaughters, Bailey and Bella ORegan of Grafton. He was born in Boston, and grew up in Natick. He was the son of Florence and Mary J. (Carroll) ORegan. His brother, Lawrence T. ORegan, formerly of Natick, and his sister, Mary P. Scannell, formerly of Wellesley, predeceased him. He also lived in Worcester prior to moving to Westborough. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945 during World War II. He was president and founder of Feecon Corp. which, from 1970 until 1990, was the leading manufacturer of firefighting equipment used on Airport Crash Fire Fighting Vehicles. Feecon equipment was used by the U.S. Air Force and at airports throughout the world. He retired in 1990. He was a member of the National Fire Protection Association and had served as chairman of its Aviation Section. He was a member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers and had served as president of the New England Chapter. He was a graduate of WPI where he played varsity football and baseball, a member of Tau Beta Pi, Sigma Xi and Skull. He was a member of the WPI Fire Science Department Advisory Board, an active member of the WPI Alumni Association and past President of the Tech Old Timers. He served on the Board of Directors of Catholic Charities for more than 30 years, and was the past president of the Board. He was a member of St. Lukes Parish in Westborough, where he was a Lector, and a member of St. Lukes Seniors. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, the Westborough Rotary Club and the Holy Cross Sodality. His funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, March 24, at 10 a.m., at St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in St. Lukes Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Tuesday, March 23, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Britton-Summers Funeral Home, 4 Church St., Westborough. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of ones choice.
