Obituary of Iona-Mary Abraham


(nee Abraham) Born in Montreal on December 10, 1923, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Monday, May 21, 2001. Iona was a proud and dedicated mother and grandmother. Her strength and faith were felt by all who knew her. Iona will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her sons, Ray (Diana) of Calgary and Brian (Ellen) of Ottawa, grandchildren, Robert, Brianna, Kelly and Tara, and great-grandchildren, Kristoffer and Julien. Saddened by her loss are her sisters Edna Brown, Stella (Steve) Kuzak, Mildred (Sterling) Smith and Donna (John) Sauve, her brothers George (Rita) and Dave, her sister-in-law, Marge Watson, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Iona will now join her parents David and Mildred, her loving husband, Albert, her beloved son, Bert, her brothers-in-law Walter Metcalfe, John Metcalfe, and Jim Brown, and her sister-in-law Geraldine Kirkwood in eternal life and peace. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Cathedral, 219-18th Ave. S.W., Calgary, Thursday, May 24, at 11 a.m. Another Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Willibrord Parish, 351 Willibrord Avenue, Verdun, Quebec, Saturday, June 2 at 10 a.m. We wish to extend our sincere thanks to the Staff of Rockyview General Hospital and Carewest Glenmore Park for their kindness and care given to Iona. We also would like to thank all the relatives and friends whose prayers and support helped Iona with her journey home.
