Obituary of Helen-Elizabeth Regan


(Regan) "They told the story of her life just as surely as if her needle had been threaded with ink and her beautiful evenly spaced stitches had become words." (G. Pender) Mrs. Helen Elizabeth Robertson (Regan) passed away peacefully on July 28, 2003 in the cherished presence of her devoted husband of 56 years, Roy. Helen was born March 2, 1923 in Deloro, Ontario to William Michael Regan and Mary Edna Meehan. Helen was a Leading Air Woman with the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1943 to 1946. Helen married her life partner Roy Robertson in Campbellford on March 28, 1947. Helen and Roy lived in Campbellford, Belleville, Napanee, Kingston, and settled back in Campbellford in 1988. Helen was a member of the United Church of Canada. Her favourite pasttimes included sewing, crafts, square dancing, travel, winters in Florida, Legion involvement, and the study and documentation of family geneology. She is fondly and gratefully remembered by family and friends for all the joy and pleasure she regularly brought into their lives. Helen was preceded in death by her beloved parents, William Michael Regan and Mary Edna (Meehan), and three brothers, Ronald Meehan Regan, William Edward Regan (infant), and Kenneth James Bonter Regan. She will forever be cherished by her loving children, Bill (Linda), Judith (Allan Kathnelson), Jim (Debby), and Susan (Rob Tavares). She will also be missed but forever remembered by her grandchildren, Christa (Matt), Denis, Naomi (Dave), Zachary, Tara (Mike), Sonya (Adam), Josh, Brandon, Rachel and Katie, and her precious great-grandchildren, Faith, Logan, and newborn twins Lillian and Allison. The family will receive friends noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2003 at Weaver Family Funeral Home in Campbellford. A Legion Memorial Service will commence in the Funeral Home at 1:45 p.m., followed in the same location by a funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jamieson, the staff and volunteers of Campbellford Hospital and the Multi-Care Lodge for their loving care. May her memory be a blessing.
