HAYES, EILEEN BRIDGET - The death of Eileen Hayes occurred on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008 at the Mountainside Lodge in Islandview, NB. Born in Upper Nelson, NB, Eileen was the daughter of the late Thomas and Cecilia (Mahoney) Dawson, and wife of the late Fred Hayes (2001). Eileen is survived by three children, Daryl (Margaret) Hayes of Musquodoboit, NS, Paul (Noreen) Hayes of Dalhousie, NB and Frank (Susan) Hayes of Toronto, ON; nine grandchildren, Beth-Anne Marr, Margot Hayes, Mark Hayes, Matthew Hayes, Nicholas Hayes, Joseph Hayes, Michael Hayes, Katie Hayes and Caroline Hayes; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Wilson and Agnes Kirk; and several nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Eileen is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Fred and five siblings, Frank Dawson, Rose Conners, Kathleen Dawson, Clara Gillespie and Mary Berry. Always stressing the importance of education, she graduated, from Saint John High School, New Brunswick Normal School, as well as the University of New Brunswick. Prior to her retirement in 1977 Mrs. Hayes taught for more than 40 years, at Stanley Regional High School, Memorial Junior High in Nashwaaksis, and St. Dunstan's in Fredericton, where many a student was pushed beyond their perceived "saturation point". Her many interests included bridge, politics, French, and travel. She was a devoted member of the C.W.L. and a communion distributor at St. Dunstan's. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home on Friday, April 25th, 2008 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Dunstan's Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, April 26th, 2008 at 2:00 pm with Fr. Gerald White as celebrant. Interment will take place immediately following at the Hermitage Cemetery. Donations in memory of Eileen may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation. (458-9170) www.mcadamsfh.com
