Obituary of Edward A. Brennan


BRENNAN Edward A., 86, died Saturday, April 11, in Jacksonville, FL. Known to his friends as Eddie, he was happiest when solving the world’s problems during long walks along the Cape Cod Canal. Born in Boston, MA, he lived for many years in Dorchester before moving to Cedarville in 1970. He has been a resident of Cape Canaveral, FL, for more than 20 years. A Graduate of Charlestown High School, he served in the Army Air Corps during WW II. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Moose Clubs. He was once an active member of the Bonnie Seniors in Manomet. After retiring as a Letter Carrier for the U.S. Post Office in 1972, he was employed by Canal Electric until 1985. He served at St. Theresa’s Church in Sagamore as a lector and became a Eucharistic and bereavement minister for Our Savior’s Church in Cocoa Beach, FL. He was a friend of Bill, having celebrated his 35th anniversary this year. He founded a Fourth of July celebration at the Little Red Schoolhouse in his beloved Cedarville that included a road race and a bicycle and doll carriage parade. He was instrumental in raising funds for the Elmer E. Raymond Memorial Playground. Predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Helen, he is survived by his children, Mary Ellen and Rob Caesar of Sandwich, Eddie and Cindy of FL, Joe and Judy of TN, Dennis and Linda of Foxborough, Terry and Frank McKenna of Cedarville, Fran and Maureen of Hingham, John and Kristin of Bourne, and George and Coreen of Falmouth. He also leaves his 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and his companion Marion Flanagan of Cap Canaveral. Visitation is scheduled from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 7, at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 619 State Rd., (Rte. 3A), PLYMOUTH (Manomet). A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday, May 8, at St. Bonaventure’s Church at 10:00 A.M. followed by burial at the National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute-Division of Development and the Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place W., Floor 6, Brookline, MA, 02445-9924.
