Obituary of Edith Dawson

Edith "Edie" Sutherland ( Dawson) On Sunday, May 2, 2004, Edie Sutherland, late of Thompson Drive, Winnipeg, passed peacefully. Edie was a lifelong resident of Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her husband Lorne in 1978; parents Joseph and Margaret Dawson; and her sister Margaret (Peg) Melton. She will be loved in memories by several nephews and nieces; as well as by many friends and neighbours. She will be sadly missed by special friends, Pauline (Art) Hammersley and Vi Aveson who often visited with her. Aunt Edie enjoyed gardening, and her flower and vegetable gardens were her pride and joy. She also enjoyed the art of painting and passed her knowledge and love of this hobby on to many others as a member/instructor of the St. James Art Club. Thanks to the staff at Oakview Nursing Home and Golden West Centennial Lodge for their care and support for Edie during her times there. At Edie’s request, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held on Friday, May 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. For those wishing to attend the service, please meet at the cemetery gates. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edie’s name to a charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
