Obituary of Eddie-Leon Raymond


NEW BEDFORD -- Eddie Leon Raymond, 90, of New Bedford, formerly of North Dartmouth, died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home. He was the widower of Jeanette V. (Therien) Raymond. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Joseph and Emelia (Bouchard) Raymond. He lived in North Dartmouth for many years; he resided in New Bedford since 1990. He was a salesman and driver for Giusti's Bakery for 33 years. After retirement, he worked at Sullivan Brothers at the North Dartmouth Mall. Mr. Raymond had a zest for life. He enjoyed family gatherings, singing at Rosie's, dancing, traveling with the Royal Travelers Club and playing cribbage with Gerry. He also enjoyed watching Red Sox games. Survivors include a son, Ronald E. Raymond, and his wife, Rosemary, of Westport; four daughters, Joan C. Peternel and her husband, Vincent, of West Wareham, Rita I. Roy of Fairhaven, Claire J. Marote and her husband, Wayne, of New Bedford, and Doris M. Angers and her husband, Ray, of Barrington, R.I.; a sister, Claire Girouard, and her husband, A. Gerry, of Stuart, Fla.; a brother, Rudolph Raymond of Sarasota, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a special friend, Dorothy Salgado of Mattapoisett; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Robert Raymond. His funeral will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Brooklawn-Chausse Dumont Funeral Home, 15 Irvington Court, with a Mass at 10 at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4256 Acushnet Ave. Burial will be private.
