Cyrille "Barney" Barnabé September 24, 1920 - September 02, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Desjardins Funeral Chapel CYRILLE “BARNEY” BARNABÉ Peacefully on Thursday, September 2, 2004, Barney passed away in his sleep. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years Agathe (née Therrien). Besides Agathe, Dad is survived by four children, thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild - Annette and Dwight Smith: Patrick, (Carman, MB), Michelle, Jean Pierre and Nicole (Winnipeg); Cyrille Junior and Stacey: Joël, Febe and Artemis, Justin (deceased 1977), Jared, Brett, and Heather of Port Coquitlam B.C.; Pierre and Marie: Nathalie, Mélanie and Chantale (Winnipeg); Guy and Susan: Melissa (Winnipeg) and Colette (Moose Jaw Sask.) Dad is also survived by his 7 sisters: Ida Saurette, Airdrie, Alberta, Irène Butra, Winnipeg, Eva and Noel Bourbonniere, Ste Rose du Lac, Thérèse and Jacques Guindon, Chomedey, Laval, Quebec, Marguerite and Bill McCaulley, Calgary, Alberta, Marie and Henri Paul Boulianne, Chicoutimi, Québec, Cécile and Willie Morris, Winnipeg, Manitoba; one brother: Jean-Louis Barnabé, Airdrie, Alberta and one sister- in- law Eileen Barnabé, Vancouver, B.C. He is also survived by Agathe’s sister-in-law Lil Therrien as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Dad was predeceased by his parents Majorique and Marie Louise, one brother Eugène, and grandson Justin, as well as Agathe’s parents, her four brothers and two sisters. Dad retired as a locomotive engineer with the CNR in 1985 after 37 years of dedicated service. Mom and Dad enjoyed their retirement years together with trips visiting children and grandchildren and going to Grand Forks. Dad spent many hours in the basement, developing his artistic talent. Everyone enjoyed and treasured receiving one of his many creations. Dad was always available to help, drive and fix things for all those around him, his children, grandchildren, family and friends. His generous spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was friendly even though he was a man of few words. He always had a smile and a “âllo” for all the many people that he met every day. Funeral service will be held at Précieux Sang Catholic Church, 200 Kenny and Dubuc Street on Tuesday, September 07 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Maurice Jeanneau officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the White Fathers of Africa, 228 Hamel Street Winnipeg, MB R2H 3B4.
