Concetta "Connie" (Pizza) Waldron, of Maynard, formerly of Sudbury and Nobscot, passed away due to congestive heart failure Sun., Jan. 31, 2010 at the Concord Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Concord with her family by her side. She was 96. She was the wife of the late George E. Waldron. They were married at St. Bridget's Church in Maynard on Feb. 15, 1942, and were married for 53 years when George died in October,1995. Born in the Province of Avellino, Montello, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Marianna (DeSimone) Pizza. Mrs. Waldron came to the US via the Port of Naples aboard the S.S. Guglielmo Pierce with her mother and brother, Michael, arriving at Ellis Island in June, 1921 at the age of 8. She attended the Maynard schools and became a US citizen in 1935. Mrs. Waldron worked at Bradley Container (American Can) in Maynard, but was mainly a homemaker after her marriage. She loved working in her yard with her flowers, cooking, her dogs, travelling with her husband, leaving her beloved poodle, "Bridgette," with her daughter. She leaves a daughter, Teresa "Terry" Waldron-Burke and her husband Frank V. of Nobscot; a sister Virginia C. Paul, wife of the late John J., of Maynard, with whom Connie lived for the past five years; a brother, Anthony Pizza and his wife Vincenza of Englewood, FL.; and her special nephew, Michael Pizza Jr. and his wife Patricia of Venice, FL. She also is survived by nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, including her nephew Mark Waldron and wife Jan of Naples, FL. She was the sister of the late Michael Pizza, Lena Foster Cook, and Angela "Rose" Soares. Visiting hours are Sun. Feb. 7th from 2-4pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave, (Rte 111) Acton. The funeral Mass will be Mon. Feb. 8th at 9am in St. Bridget's Church, crn. of Percival & Sudbury Sts, Maynard, with burial following in the family lot in Glenwood Cemetery, Great Rd (Rte 117) Maynard.
