Obituary of Charles-Donald Welch

WELCH, Charles Donald - (February 6, 1937 - September 8, 2009). Peacefully at Chateau Gardens Nursing Home in his 73rd year. Beloved husband and best friend of Diane. Loving father of Becky (Mark) Burton and Brian (Jennifer Curry). Dear grandfather of Stephanie, Gregory, Meaghan, Alexis, Noah, Nicole. Brother of Allan (JoAnn) Welch and the late Dawn Hartman. Predeceased by his first wife Karen (1993). Brother-in-law of Joy (John) Lawrence, Howard (Joan) McClelland, George (Marjorie) Bennett. Son-in-law of Katie Bennett. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Charles was employed with the Regional Municpality of Niagara for 24 years before retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Merritton Lions Club and the Merritton Legion (Br. 138). The family will receive friends at the HAMMOND FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 26 Ormond Street South, Thorold on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, September 11th at 11:00am. Interment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. If so desired, donations to the Alzheimers Society, Crohn's & Colitis Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
