Obituary of Cecile M. Barrette


Cecile M. (Rochette) Barrette, 80 Worked on family farm; lived in Ashby Sentinel & Enterprise ASHBY -- Cecile M. (Rochette) Barrette, 80, of Jewett Hill Road, died early Friday morning, March 4, at home, after an illness. She was born on Feb. 18,1925, in Fitchburg, the daughter of Albert and Yvonne (Cote) Rochette, and was raised in Fitchburg before moving to raise her family in Ashby more than 50 years ago. She was a 1942 graduate of St. Bernard’s High School. Cecile had been a spinner for the former Fitchburg Yarn Co. for more than 10 years and had worked on the family farm in Ashby with her husband and children. She enjoyed sewing and gardening. She was a member of the Father Ralph DiOrio Apostolate for Healing Ministries for many years. She was also a member of The Higher Ground Ministries in Gardner. She leaves three sons, Eugene Barrette and his wife, Susan, and Roland Barrette and his wife, Susan, all of Ashby, and Louis Barrette and his wife, Julie, of Rindge, N.H.; five daughters, Henriette Boucher and her husband, Norman, Denise Barrette, Jane Piermarini and her husband, Dino, Lorraine Neilson and her husband, Don, and Janet Shepherd and her husband, Elwin -- all living in Ashby; three brothers, Edgar A. Rochette, Robert J. Rochette and Roland Y. Rochette, all of Leominster; five sisters, Theresa Rochette, Rita Dupuis, Bernadette Leger, Pauline Berube and Jeannette Racine, all of Fitchburg; 18 grandchildren, Brain Neilson, Zachary Shepherd, Russell, Sarah, Jeremy, Timothy, Erin, James, Eric, Jason, Ryan, Michelle, Philip, Peter and Richard Barrette, Paul Boucher and Donna Sirianni; and one great-granddaughter, Eve Barrette. She was predeceased by a brother, Maurice Rochette, who died in 1975; a son, Norman P. Barrette, who died in 2003; and a granddaughter, Rhonda Barrette, who died in 1989. Her husband, Paul N. Barrette, died on September 5, 1984. BARRETTE -- On March 4, Cecile M. (Rochette) Barrette, 80, of Ashby. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at 11 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 81 Sheridan St., Fitchburg. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends for visitation on Monday evening from 5 until 8 at the Lavery-Chartrand Funeral Home, 99 Summer St., Fitchburg. Instead of flowers, the family suggests that donations in her memory be made to a charity of one’s choice
