Obituary of Catherine Cantin

Catherine Villeneuve Cantin, of Hearst The funeral service for Hearst resident Catherine was held Nov. 1, 2007. She died Oct. 29 at age 92. Born April 28, 1915 at Ste-Catherine-de-Port-Neuf, Québec, she was a courageous and determined person with a sense of humour and wisdom, and a believer in Christ. She was predeceased by her busband Sébastien in 1943, daughter Laurette Groleau of Hearst in October 2007, daughter-in-law Marguerite, sister-in-law Irène Cantin, and brothers-in-law Gérard Villeneuve, Ernest and Jean-Baptiste. She leaves her sons Rev. Fernand Cantin of St. Patrick’s in Kapuskasing and André (companion Denise) Cantin of Cochrane, her sister Lucie Verreault of Hearst and brother Pierre Cantin of Lac Ste-Thérèse, son-in-law Clément Groleau of Hearst, and sisters-in-law Adrienne Cantin, Marguerite and Rolande. Also surviving are grandchildren Mireille, Gilles, Christiane, Chantal and Rev. Sébastien Groleau, and Annie, Martine, Yves, Pierre, Marc and Léandre Villeneuve as well as 20 great grandchildren. Rev. Sébastien Groleau of Alexandria directed the service at Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption Cathedral. Interment followed at Monsignor Pierre Grenier Cemetery. Commemorative donations may be made to the Centre d’éducation sur la diabète Nord-Aski diabetes education centre or a preferred organization
