ROY Blanche Marie Blanche Roy passed away peacefully at the Father Lacombe Nursing Home on August 7, 2003. Born September 1, 1914, Blanche was the youngest daughter of Edouard and Elisa (Letourneau) de Laforest. Blanche spent her younger years in religious life and taught in various communities in Saskatchewan where she was known as Sister Nativity. Blanche left the Order in 1970 and continued her teaching career in Fort McMurray, AB. A few years later she married Philip Roy who gave her great joy and they enjoyed their time together until his death in 1983. In many ways, Blanche was a lady ahead of her time. She could well be described as a free spirit, always pursuing new experiences. Blanche was also predeceased by seven brothers and sisters, Marcel, George, Gerard, Paul, Marie, Antoinette and Louise. She is survived by a sister-in-law Mary McEachern of Whitewood, SK, as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Chapel of Father Lacombe Home, 332-146 Avenue S.E., Calgary, on Monday, August 11, 2003 at 1:00 p.m., The Rev. Fr. P. Cramer, Celebrant. Interment to follow at Highwood Cemetery. If desired, in memory of Blanche, memorial contributions may be made to Father Lacombe Nursing Home, 332-146 Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2X 2A3.
