Obituary of Betty-Julia Fairbanks

BETTY JULIA GABORIAULT SWANTON/ST. ALBANS — Betty Julia Gaboriault, 85, a lifelong resident of the Swanton and Saint Albans areas died Tuesday morning, September 27, 2005, in the Haven Health Center surrounded by her loving family. Born in Detroit, Michigan, on, January 19, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Bertha (Pomeroy) Fairbanks. She attended Bellows Free Academy-Saint Albans and on, April 9, 1939 was married to Rene R. Gaboriault who predeceased her on April 30, 1997. From 1955 until the Swanton Fire in 1970, Betty along with her husband owned and operated the former Herrick's Hardware Store in the Swanton Village Square. She will be remembered for her artistic ability to design and make all kinds of crafts, was an avid Bingo fan and loved to go shopping. In their retirement years Betty and her husband wintered in Bonita Springs, Florida. Betty leaves two daughters, Gwen Guyette and her husband Patrick of Georgia and Bonnie Coon and her husband Melvin of Swanton; a son, Albert Gaboriault and his companion Linda Hogan of South Royalton; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; a daughterin-law, Jean Hanor of Saint Albans; a sister-inlaw and brotherin-law, Blanche and Armand Gaboriault of North Port, Florida, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves her extended family of loyal staff members and friends at the Haven Health Center in Saint Albans Town. She was predeceased by her eldest son, Sanford Rene Gaboriault; two sisters, Kate Belville and Hazel Buzzwell and three brothers, Donald, Alvin and Doug Fairbanks. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 15, 2005, at 11 a.m. from The First Congregational Church, 27 Church Street, Saint Albans City. The Reverand Judith Kennedy will officiate. There will be no public calling hours. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Gifts in Betty's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Vermont Chapter, P.O.
