Obituary of Alphonse L.Allain

FITCHBURG -- Alphonse L. Allain, 79, of 59 Olin Ave., died Wednesday, March 17, in HealthAlliance Hospital/Leominster, after an illness. He was born in Saint Marie, New Brunswick, Canada on April 10, 1924, the son of Octave and Margaret (Dionne) Allain and had resided in Fitchburg for many years. Mr. Allain worked at Decatone in Westminster in the maintenance department for more than 30 years. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Fitchburg. He enjoyed woodworking. Mr. Allain is survived by his wife, Theresa M. (Melanson) Allain of Fitchburg; one sister, Georgina Leger of St. Anthony, New Brunswick; and one granddaughter, Jacqueline M. Racine of New Ipswich, N.H. He was predeceased by a daughter, Karen M. (Allain) Racine of New Ipswich, N.H., who died in 1995. ALLAIN -- On March 17, Alphonse L. Allain, 79, of Fitchburg. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 20, at 11 a.m. at the Pieta Chapel in St. Joseph Cemetery, Clarendon Street, Fitchburg. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Church, 46 Woodland St., Fitchburg, MA 01420.
