Obituary of Alfonso Reda

It is with profound sadness that the family of Alfonso Salvatore Reda, age 79, announce his passing at the Royal Jubilee Hospital on Saturday, December 3, 2016.Born in Mendicino, Cosenza, Italy, Alfonso was the second son of Vincenzo Reda and Rosina Peluso. He immigrated to Canada in 1963 and eventually found employment with the City of Victoria. He was a lifetime member of the Victoria Italian Assistance Center.Alfonso, always the optimist took every opportunity to enjoy life. He loved the outdoors especially hunting, gardening, people watching and having coffee with his many friends.He will be dearly missed by his wife of 53 years, Evelina, and his four children: Rosa, (Domenico); Vincenzo (Racquel) Maurizio (Charlene) and Luigi. His six grandchildren, Alfonsino, Gabriella, Isabella, Alfonso, Luca, Matteo will miss their Nonno immensely.A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 11:30 AM at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 798 Goldstream Avenue. Committal will follow the service at Royal Oak Burial Park in the Mausoleum. No flowers please, instead enjoy a glass of wine in honor of his memory. A donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
