WILLIAM GORDON BENNETT It is with great sadness that we announce the death of William Gordon Bennett (born March 6, 1932 in Askern, England) of Georgetown, Ontario. Gordon passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side the morning of August 31, 2011. Beloved husband of Noreen Bennett (nee Sutherland), cherished father of Kim Mathe (Mike Mathe) and Fiona Bennett (Paul Patterson), adored "Poppa" of Nicole, Jenna, Vanessa, Elise and Sean and special "Great- Poppa" to Audrey. Fondly remembered by Gordon's first wife, Elsie Bennett, his brother Jack and his sisters Dorrance and Joan from England and his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Ken. Gordon's courageous battle with cancer was an inspiration to all who knew him. His positive attitude and love of life was infectious, as was his sense of humour. The family will receive friends at J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, north of Maple Avenue, Georgetown, 905-877-3631, on Sunday, September 4 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral services will take place at Jones & Son Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, September 5 at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow.
