HAMILTON - William F. Walter, 90, of Hamilton, died peacefully on Saturday at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis Medical Center, Trenton. Born in Trenton, Bill was a resident of Trenton for most of his life prior to moving to Hamilton 13 years ago. A painter by trade, Bill was a member of the Painters Union, Local 301. He was the former owner of Walter's Café and had also been employed by the Mercer County Parks Commission. Bill was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II having served in the Rhineland Campaign. He was a life member of VFW No. 491 in Yardville where he had served as bar steward and Quartermaster. He was also a member of Hamilton Township Elks Lodge No. 2262 BPOE. Son of the late Christian and Mary Veronica Dunn Walter, brother of the late Benjamin and Christian Walter, father of the late James Walter, stepfather of the late Mark, Raymond and Carol Wyrwas, he is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Lillian Elias Walter; a son, the Rev. Francis Walter of Boston; his sister, Mary V. Smith of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Patricia Salvatore and her husband Frank; a stepgrandson, Chris Wyrwas whom he loved very much and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Hamilton. Friends may call on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville.
