HAMILTON - William "Bill" Edward Nicholson age 81 of Hamilton passed away August 9, 2013 at home.Born in Trenton, New Jersey and growing up in Yardley, Pennsylvania, he was educated in the Yardley Public School District.Bill served honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and received a Korean Service Medal and a National Service Metal. Making history, Bill was the first African American police officer in Yardley Borough. He was well-liked and known to his colleagues as the "Happy Go Lucky Cop". During his work tenure, Bill also worked for several prominent companies: US Steel Mill, American Can, Bilt Rite, and Trane. In 1980, Bill relocated to Hamilton Township, New Jersey and married his wife, Delores, of 33 years. Son of the late William Walter and Edith Marie Nicholson.Bill will be remembered and cherished by his devoted, loving wife and care-taker, Delores, his mother-in-law, Anna M. Lee (he affectionately called 'mom'). He was a loving father to Elizabeth Turner, Victoria Bains, Lawrence Coleman, Donna Nicholson, Mark Nicholson, William E. Nicholson, Jr., the late Janetta Ramsey and Deborah Parrish. Bill was brother to his twin Willie Mae Thompson (Steven), Ester Boykins, and Donald Nicholson and also enjoyed a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August15, 2013 at Beauty Grove Primitive Baptist Church 66 Race St. Trenton, NJ. Calling hours will be 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Interment Washington Crossing National Cemetery Newtown, PA. Arrangements are by the Hughes Funeral Home.
