RICHMOND - William E. Sexton, 83, of Richmond, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at his home. Dr. Sexton was born on September 30, 1930 in Carlisle, KY, and was the son of Clyde M. and Ethel Kerns Sexton, both of whom preceded him in death. Dr. Sexton was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in the Korean War. He completed his undergraduate studies at EKU, received his Master's degree from the University of Illinois, and his doctorate from the University of Missouri. He served as Dean of the College of Applied Arts and Technology at EKU, and then served in the position of Vice President of EKU until his retirement. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Ruddell Sexton, and one brother, Charles Sexton. Survivors include: two sons, Michael E. Sexton (Jane), of Richmond, and Dr. Gregory A. Sexton (Catherine), of Columbia, SC; six grandchildren, Ashley Sexton Neff (Jeremy), of Irvine, KY, Billy Sexton (Kim) and Bobby Sexton, both of Richmond, and Meredith Sexton, Evelyn Sexton, and Julia Sexton, all of Columbia, SC; seven great-grandchildren, Sabastian, Seth, Logan, Aubrey, Michael, Austin, and William. Visitation for Dr. William Sexton will be from 4 - 8pm on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted at 11am on Monday, September 22, 2014 at the Carlisle Cemetery in Carlisle, KY. Pallbearers will be Jim Masterson, Billy Sexton, Bobby Sexton, Jeremy Neff, Eddie Davis, Bill Berry, and Mike Olds. Condolences may be expressed at www.orpfh.com.
