ALLAN, William (Bill) (WWII, 79th Fighter Squadron, RAF) Peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, November 25, 2006, William (Bill) Allan of Acton in his 92nd year. Bill was born on June 2, 1915 in Cottingham, E. Yorks. He served with the RAF for six years over the course of WWII. Bill emigrated to Pakenham with his family in 1955. He was predeceased by his wife May, in 1992. Proud father of Bill Allan of Stittsville and Joyce Fulton of Pakenham. Dear grandfather of Allan Fulton, Elizabeth Fulton (Shawn Park), Chelsea and Sarah Allan. Great-grandfather of Brennan and Liam Fulton. Bill's life was the land; his varied career included working with Shire horses; the family tradition of market gardening; 17 years looking after Jersey cows; growing mushrooms; and lastly, until retirement at the age of 89, working in the fields at Sheridan Nurseries. He took great pride in a job well done, never shirking responsibility. A skilled horticulturalist, his joy was budding roses and tending to his vegetable garden. The void he leaves is vast; but we are grateful for his time with us. Friends may call at the Almonte Chapel of Tubman Kerry Funeral Home, 154 Elgin Street, Almonte on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until time of service in the chapel at 2 p.m. with Rev. Heather Kinkaid officiating. Interment to follow at Pakenham Union Cemetery. The family is deeply grateful for the care and support given by Dr. Virginia Hurdon (Palliative Care Network) and the nurses (especially Martha) associated with the AT Home Hospice. We ask that memorial donations be made to either the AT Home Hospice or the Ottawa Valley Kidney Foundation. Published in the Ottawa Citizen from 11/27/2006 - 11/28/2006
