<!-- FH = Pitts Chapel -->Vera Elizabeth RoderickVera Elizabeth (Polly) Roderick age 93, of Halfway, MO passed away October 23, 2011 at Colonial Springs Care Care Facility of Buffalo, MO after a long illness. She was born December 2, 1917, the daughter of Luther A. Polly and Nellie ( Bowser) Polly. Vera married Gene E. Roderick on July 18, 1937. Gene preceded her in death in 1989. Vera was born and spent her life in the Halfway community. She enjoyed handwork, reading, lawn care, and quilting. She lived on the same farm for 73 years. She was secretary for the Halfway R3 School from 1958 until 1982. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Don and Sherry Roderick, Halfway, MO, four grandchildren, Janet Duff and husband Brad, of Tunas, MO, Deborah Dryer and husband Dan of Buffalo, MO, Dan Roderick and wife Theresa of Bolivar, MO and Jay Roderick of Halfway, eight great grandchildren, two sisters, Virginia Westfall, Springfield, MO and Patricia Taylor, Fairfax VA. She was preceded in death by her four brothers, Wayne, Dean, Leland and Kenneth Polly. Arrangements are under the direction of Pitts Chapel in Bolivar. Services for Vera E. Roderick will be Friday, October 28. 2011 at 10:00 AM at Reed Cemetery, Halfway, MO, with Reverend Brad Duff officiating. There will be no formal visitation and the casket will be closed.
