Thomas J. Mayer, 47, of Onondaga Hill, passed away Tuesday, June 24 at Upstate University Hospital surrounded by his loved ones following a brief illness. Born in Syracuse, he was a member of the management team at Wegmans, and worked at Hallinan's Liquor Store. Tom had also volunteered as a mentor with inner city children. He was a devoted family man and friend, enjoyed traveling, and spending time at his family's summer home at Cranberry Lake. Before he passed away Tom was asked if there was anything he wanted to say to anyone, he said, "tell everyone thank you and I love them". Surviving are his wife, Suzanne McMains Mayer; his daughters, Sarah (Jose Donoso Pena) of Miami, Phoebe Mayer of Onondaga Hill; his parents, Roger and Joan Mayer of Baldwinsville; two brothers, Wayne Mayer of Chicago, Roger "Chip" Mayer of Liverpool; two nephews, William and Christopher Mayer; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Services: 10 a.m. Friday in St. Michael & St. Peter's Church. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Butler-Badman Funeral Home, Inc., 4504 W. Seneca Tpk.
