Lisbon - T. Michael Neilan, 70, peacefully passed away on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at his home in Lisbon.He was born in New London, June 6, 1944, the son of Edward P. and Charlotte (Barrett) Neilan.He is survived by the love of his life, his best friend and wife, Carol (Weidner) Neilan. In addition to his wife, Carol, he is survived by his children, Theresa Metas of Saginaw, Mich., Monica (Mark) Hnath of Portland, Oregon, Jack Jay Metas of Lincoln Park, Mich., and Erin Neilan of Saginaw; two brothers, Edward B. Neilan of Waterford, John Neilan of Niantic; four sisters, Charlotte Darling of New London, Martha Rogers of Mooresville, N.C., Christine Rossetti of New London, and Elizabeth Neilan of East Haven. He has seven grandchildren, Zoé, Jeremy, Quinn, Rachel, Brandyn, Kenzie, and Montana.Mike was a great friend to many and a graduate of New London High. He was a retired journeyman welder who loved the construction trade, working at Pratt & Whitney, Electric Boat, and nuclear power plants throughout the U.S. Mike was an avid crime novel reader, lover of music, and a bird watcher. He was a sports enthusiast who particularly loved UConn basketball and race cars.A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.The Thomas L.
