NORRIS, Susan Marie November 4, 1961 - September 1, 2013 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Susie. How do you say goodbye to someone who touched everyone's lives so deeply. Susie fought the most valiant battle with cancer for 10 years showing great poise, humility, and courage. Even through her last breath she was thinking of others and her last words were for the most important person in her life, her beautiful daughter Carleigh. Susie was born and raised in Victoria. She spent 17 years of her life working at the James Bay Lodge as a nurses aid, doing what she loved-helping others. In another nurturing capacity and in order to spend more quality time with her daughter she went back to school to obtain her teachers aid certificate, which she achieved with honours. She applied her expertise at Oak Bay Recreation Centre and Campus View Elementary. Tapping into her spiritual side, Susie's true gift was as a Reiki Master healing others, as well as herself. She was practicing Reiki up until her last moments. Susie's words and thoughts will carry on through her family. She is survived by the love of her life, her daughter Carleigh Gosselin; her mother, Miriam Blackmore; her siblings Darlene (Russ), Laura-Lee, Danny, Scott (Tanya); her nieces and nephews Vince, Mark & Jenny (Leif); Rachel (Joel), Maddi & Karina, and Rosaline; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and her loyal dog, Blondie. She was predeceased by her father, Bill Norris, in May 1981 and stepfather, Art Blackmore, in December 2001. Susie was so grateful for the care she had received throughout her illness, and our family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to Victoria Hospice and the palliative care team. As Susie would say "a thought can change the world," she was our angel on earth, and now our angel in heaven. In honour of her favourite colour we will all be wearing purple at her Celebration of Life, Friday September 13th 2:00pm at First Memorial Royal Oak, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria. In lieu of flowers Susie's wish would be to have donations made to the charity of your choice.
