Susan Ellen ArthurSusan Ellen Arthur, 67, of Tallahassee, passed away Monday, March 21, 2011. A Memorial Mass will be held at Good Shepherd Church on Thomasville Road on Wednesday, March 30th, 2011, at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends after the mass at her daughters home (Tim and Stephanie Jansen) at 4418 High Grove Place.Susan was born on August 8th, 1943, in New York, New York. She attended and graduated in 1960, from the Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart in Newton, Massachusetts. She then attended Katherine Gibbs School in New York, where she graduated in Secretarial Studies program in 1962.Susan moved to Tallahassee in 1970. She retired in 1998, from the Florida Petroleum Council.Survivors include her husband, Terry Arthur; her daughter, Stephanie Jansen (Tim); her granddaughters, Janie and Annie Jansen; and her sister, Maureen Carey of Dartmouth, Mass. Additionally, Susan leaves behind many dear friends whom were family to her.Susan appreciated and loved the arts. She was exceptional at all that she touched and crafted. Her family and friends are fortunate to have been left many of her beloved works including needle point, paintings, hooked rugs and knitted pieces. She was a member of the American Needlepoint Guild, Association of Traditional Rug Hookers and the Wire Grass Hookers of Thomasville, Georgia. It is an understatement to say that Susan cherished all animals that were lucky enough to come across her path. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of the United States.
