SHEPHERD Ruth E. Shepherd, formerly "Alexander" died on Tuesday, March 14, 2006. Originally from New Britain, Ruth passed away at her home in Oberlin, Ohio. She resided for many years in Roxbury, Mass., where she was a licensed practical nurse and worked at the Jewish Memorial Hospital. She then moved to Oberlin in 1980 and was employed by the Oberlin Clinic for nine years until she retired in 1989. She enjoyed baking, sewing, art and reading. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Samuel M. Shepherd; a daughter, Angela Shepherd of Atlanta, Ga.; stepdaughters, Pamela Grey and Deidre Hood, both of Oberlin, Ohio, and Leslie Shepherd of Atlanta, Ga.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, June Rhodes and Mary Rattley, both of Bridgeport. A private memorial service will be held by the family.
