Avis de décès de Robert-St. Lawrence


HILLSBOROUGH - Robert "Bob" St. Lawrence, 86, died peacefully Feb. 9, 2012, at his home. He was born in Hillsborough on Feb. 3, 1926, to Aime and Nellie (Dumais) St. Laurent. Bob lived most of his life in the Hillsborough area. Wanting to serve his country Bob quit high school to join the U.S. Army Air Corps. He trained as a bombardier/ball turret gunner on B-17s arriving in Europe at the end of World War II. While there he participated in humanitarian missions dropping much needed food to the English countryside. After the war, Bob returned to Hillsborough High School graduating in 1947. The next year he married Barbara Wescott who remained the love of his life beyond her passing in 2006. Bob was employed at Monadnock Paper Mills for over 30 years where he earned the respect of friends and coworkers. Bob attained his private pilot's license and enjoyed sharing his love of flight with family and friends. Ham radio operation, vegetable gardening, weather watching, observing the night sky, golf and travel were among his varied interests. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. Bob survived his wife, Barbara, his parents, and his eight brothers and sisters. Surviving family include his children Lynn Crawford of Ocala, Fla., Don St. Lawrence of Henniker, Peter St. Lawrence and Denise Bradley, both of Hillsborough, Laurie Dube of Washington, and Lisa Howard of London, Ky.; 22 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and scores of friends who considered Bob and Barb the parents or grandparents they always wanted or never had. . services: Calling hours are from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 32 School St., Hillsborough. Bob was a parishioner of St. Mary Church in Hillsborough and a Mass of Christian burial will be held at the church Saturday, February 18 at 10 am. Friends and family will be encouraged to share their memories.
