PAYNE Robert L. Payne, age 86, beloved husband of Barbara Payne of Stratford, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2006 at Bridgeport Hospital. Mr. Payne was a United States World War II Army veteran who served under General Patton and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Robert was a self-employed security guard for many years. In addition to his devoted wife, Barbara, he is also survived by his sister, Virginia Myers and her husband, Paul, of Milford; and one step-grandson, Gary Burns. He was also predeceased by his step-son, Michael Cruise. Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 25, 2006 at 10 a.m. in St. MichaelCs Cemetery with full military honors.
