Whitman Robert C. Wheeler, 93, of Whitman died Thursday in Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of 63 years to the late Marion Maxine (Whiting) Wheeler. Mr. Wheeler was born in Abington and brought up in Rockland. He lived in Hanson for 10 years before settling in Whitman for the past 50 years. Robert was a tool and die maker for the H.H. Arnold Machine Co. of Rockland for 36 years and also worked at the Globe Rubber in Rockland, until retirement. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, cribbage and jigsaw puzzles. He was a loving father and loved by his family. He is survived by his children, Robert A. Wheeler and his wife June, Penny Rudkin and her husband Wayne, Susan Bennett and her husband Harry, all of Whitman, Mark Wheeler and his wife Karla of Minnesota; his brother, Richard C. Wheeler of Holbrook; his sisters, Beverly Woodward of Florida and Shirley Litchfield of Pembroke; also nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Pamela Wheeler and brother of the late Lewis Wheeler, Dorothy Cunningham, F. Isabel Ransom, Ruth Litchfield, Lillian Hobill and Claire Crowell. His funeral service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary), Whitman. Burial will follow in the Center Cemetery, Silver Street, Hanover.
