It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Bud Lachapelle on Saturday, April 14, 2001 at the General Hospital. Following a battle with pneumonia, heart failure finally overtook him. All his life he was blessed by a wealth of family and friends who loved him dearly. We wish him peace - his wife Claire and his late wife Carmella; sisters Jeanne and Lysiane; children Lissa, Mike, Mario and Kirk; grandchildren Geoff, Brendon and Angelina; his sisters' children Sue and Peter (Pepper); his in-laws Russ, Pauline and Andree; his children by marriage Judith, Denis, Cathy, Kim, and Mike and Elizabeth; his godchildren Christina and Brent; all his nieces and nephews; and his extended family Krista, Neil and Sandra, Don, CC and Lauren and Jason. A fiercely independent man all his life, Bud treasured his freedom. He was a man with a talent for making friends, making anyone welcome and cherishing the value of everyone he met. One of six siblings, Bud joins his sisters who have gone before - Marcelle, Odette and Agathe. An irrepressible adventurer at heart, at seventy-one he travelled to North Africa and even at eighty-eight would have climbed the nearest mountain if he could. He was a Second World War veteran and it was his nature to be a fighter. He found it hard to say goodbye. You know we love you. We will miss you laughing at our jokes. "FOREVER YOUNG" The family extends its gratitude to the staff of the General Hospital, in particular the Intensive and Cardiac Care Units. Your help, caring and attention made a significant difference to Bud and the family. A Mass in Memory of Bud will be held Saturday, April 21, 2001 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 400 St. Laurent Blvd., at 11 a.m., followed by a reception in the parish hall.
