SPEIGLETOWN Philip Arthur Cochran, age 82, of Speigletown, died on Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. Mr. Cochran was a graduate of Mt. Herman School and the University of Massachusetts with a B.S. in dairy science. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. After returning from his tour of duty following World War II, he became plant manager of the Norman Dairy in New Canaan, Conn. There he fell in love with and later married the boss's daughter. After moving to the Capital District, he founded Q.C. Laboratories, providing testing, inspection and consulting services to the milk industry of Northeastern New York. His customers relied on his advice for nearly 50 years. He wrote several articles for professional journals and was past president of the Capital District Chapter of the New York State Sanitarians Association. He is survived by his wife, Harriet; his children, Wayne and Lynley; and his grandchildren, Adam and Jason. Funeral services will be held at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue, Albany on Sunday, February 16 at 12 noon. Interment will be private in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, New York. Memorial contributions may be made to Northfield Mt. Herman School, 206 Main St., Northfield, MA 01360.
