Allan, Penny Jane, Ms. February 29, 1944 - August 27, 2008 Beloved mother of Jonathan (Victoria) and Cristina (Calgary), beloved sister of Peter and Bev (Bruder) Allan and family (Cochrane), John and Judi (Randolph) Allan and family (Marysville, USA), and Rosemary Allan (Calgary). Predeceased by her beloved companion Gilberto Rodriquez (Mexico City) and her parents Bery and Grace Allan (Lethbridge). A teacher, Penny was employed by the College of the North Atlantic in Doha, Qatar, where she developed curriculum and taught English to adults. Penny enjoyed a long and illustrious career with the Calgary Board of Education. She later became Curriculum Coordinator in the International Languages Department at Mount Royal College. A master teacher, Penny touched all who met her kind and sunny personality and vibrant joie de vivre. The family asks those attending to wear vibrant colours to reflect her personality. Many thanks to the medical and nursing staff, their heroic efforts, at the Rocky View Intensive Care Unit and Cardiology Unit. In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to donate to Immigrant Services Calgary www.immigrantservicescalgary.ca. It was Penny’s last wish that friends hold a good thought for her.
