PAUL HANSEN ROCKLEDGE Paul Riis Hansen, 94, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2008, at Rockledge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Paul was born April 10, 1913, in Chicago, Illinois, and moved with his family to Florida in 1923. Paul was a decorated World War II Veteran, who served in the Army and was stationed mainly in the South Pacific. Paul was one of the many brave U.S. soldiers who fought in the historic Battle of Peleliu. As a result of his service, Paul was the recipi ent of three Purple Hearts, one Bronze Star, and three Bronze medals. After his military service, Paul traveled throughout his beloved U.S.A., and eventual ly settled in Cocoa, where he met his wife and worked in Civil Service at Patrick Air Force Base. Paul was a resident of Cocoa for over 40 years and was a founding member of the Faith Baptist Church of Rockledge. In his spare time, Paul enjoyed using his ama teur radio equipment and growing vegetables and fruit in his garden. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Helga Hansen, and his broth er, Fred R. Hansen. Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Lena M. Hansen; sister, Jeanne M. Hansen; nieces, Barbara, Beverly, Susan and Martha; six great-nieces and neph ews, and eleven great-great nieces and nephews. Paul overcame many obst acles in his life and his strength and determination were admired by all who knew him. A service to celebrate Pauls life will be held on Wednesday, February 20th, at 1p.m. at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home in Cocoa (321) 636-3720, followed by a reception at Faith Baptist Church in Rockledge.
