Muriel Roper MacMillan, August 1924 - March 27, 2013 Age 88, Muriel passed away peacefully on the morning of March 27, 2013 at Carlingview Manor in Ottawa. Loving mother of Malcolm (Susan Murray), Ian, Neale (Andrée Poulin), and Jocelyne (André Bourget). Proud grandmother of Lisa, Kendra, Kyle, Matthew, Gabriel, Rachelle, Daniel, Geneviève, Madeleine, Charlotte and Emily, of her great-grandchildren Rebecca, Nicole, Veda, Maya, and Gema, and of great-great-grandson Tyson. Muriel was predeceased by her parents Gordon R. and Alice Diver (Whelan) and by her husband Hugh Pearson MacMillan, who died on July 21st, 2012. She was also predeceased by her brothers Leonard, Fred and Gordon. Fondly remembered by nieces, nephews and friends. Muriel was a school teacher in Montreal, Vancouver, Glengarry County and Toronto. She raised four children and kept the household running during Hugh's frequent road trips for the Archives of Ontario. In retirement in Guelph and Ottawa, Muriel was an avid reader, book club member, and accomplished knitter. She cared for her grandchildren, and travelled often with Hugh in the British Isles, Europe and North America. A memorial service will be held on June 8 at 4:30 p.m. at the Community of Christ Church, 888 Byron Avenue (corner of Byron and Redwood) in Ottawa. The remembrance for Muriel will continue at the home of Jocelyne MacMillan, 559 Redwood Avenue in Ottawa. If desired, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada (www.alzheimer.ca).
