HOBSON CITY — Services for Mr. Gordon James Whitman, 31, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at United Christian Assembly of God in Hobson City with the Rev. George L. Lauderdale officiating. Burial will be in the Eden Hills Cemetery with Anniston Funeral services in charge. The body will be at the church one hour prior to services. Mr Whitman died on January 7, 2009 at Regional Medical Center. Survivors include his fiance, Bekina Lane, of Anniston; his mother, Mary Ann Whitman, of Hobson City; his father, Gordon Wallace, of Battle Creek, Mich.; grandmother, Maebell Stanford, of Hobson City; two sons, Jalen and Jamal Stone and daughter, Davonna Stone, all of Anniston; three sisters, Shequita Whitman, of Hobson City, Betty (Cameron) Wallace-Moore, of Battle Creek, Mich., Teresa Wallace-Brady, of Hazelcrest, Ill.; four brothers, Kelvin (Sherelle) Wysinger, of Birmingham, Quinton and Jason Wallace, of Markham, Ill. and Carlos (Keisha) Evans, of Stanford, Va.; aunts, Pamela Whitman and Telesa Stanford, of Hobson City, Nazaree (Kevin) Horton, of Rockford, Mass.; uncles, James Whitman, Cornell (Mary) Whitman, Jessie (Candace) Stanford, all of Anniston, Len (Genva) Stanford, of Enterprise, Dwain (Sharon) Stanford, of Dayton, Ohio, Larry Wallace, of California and Louis Wallace, of Markham, Ill.; god-daughter, Asia Bradford. Pallbearers are Jamaron Cunningham, Jajuan Johnson, Brian Swain, Markell Jones, Alonzo Calloway, and Rayvolis Johnson. Mr. Whitman was a Harvey, Illinois native and later moved to Hobson City where he was a member of New Immanuel Baptist Church and served faithfully as a usher, graduate of Oxford High School class of 1996 and loved music, where he performed with ATF, and produced music for Greenhill Dynasty Records, Black Mobb, and served as a Mentor for Shadow Figures, completed several years at Jacksonville State University and worked for Anniston Army Depot as a small arms repairman. He was an active member with the Pride of Hobson City Masonic Lodge #695. "You have our deepest sympathy."
