SNYDER Michael Burke Snyder died February 1, 2002 following a brief illness. A fifth generation Jacksonville native, he was the son of Lieut. Gen. Maxwell Cook Snyder and Mary Viola Dolly Burke Snyder. Born March 12, 1937, Mike grew up in Ortega and attended local schools. In 1955, he enlisted in the Florida Army National Guard and served 32 years until his retirement in 1987 as a Lieutenant Colonel. In 1958, he and his wife Rosalie were married in St Marks Episcopal Church. They have one daughter, Leigh Maxwell Ray (James) and a grandson, Evan Maxwell Ray all of Jacksonville. Mikes brother, Maxwell Cook Snyder, Jr. predeceased him in 1982. Mike is also survived by nephews: Maxwell Cook Snyder III (Donnette), Paul Snyder (Kimmy); a niece, Mary Burke Snyder Evans (Gary), as well as many devoted friends and extended family. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM TODAY in St Marks Episcopal Church, 2916 Ionic Ave., the Reverend Mary Rosendahl and the Reverend Kammy Young officiating. Memorials may be sent to St. Marks Episcopal Church or the Museum of Southern History at 4304 Herschel Street, Jacksonville, Fl 32205. Arrangements by Hardage-Giddens Main St. Chapel.
